Tasty Tuna Burger with Portobello


  • 1 Can Safe Catch Wild Tuna
  • 1 Egg
  • ¼ Red Onion
  • ¼ Cup Parsley
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • ½ tsp Dried Basil
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 Portobello Mushroom Caps
  • 1 Head Butter Lettuce
  • 1 Avocado
  • Goat Cheese of Choice
  • Salt & Pepper to Taste

Tools you'll need

  • Medium Mixing Bowl
  • Chef’s Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Frying Pan or Grill
  • Spatula
  • Baking Pan
  • Food Processor
  • Measuring Spoons & Cups


  1. Preheat oven to 400 Degrees F
  2. Knife Work: Rinse Pepper and Parsley, then coarsely chop peppers (removing seeds and stem first), parsley, and peeled red onion
  3. Food Processor: (1) Place peppers, parsley, red onion, egg and spices into food processors and pulse until roughly chopped & combined; (2) Add 1 complete can of Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna, including the natural juices and pulse only enough to combine ingredients (1-3 pulses)
  4. Form patty, place on an oiled baking pan and bake at 400 Degrees F for 20-27 mins
  5. Saute portobello mushrooms in oiled frying pan, salt & pepper to taste
  6. Knife Work: Peel and slice half an avocado; Core, wash and dry lettuce leaves
  7. Burger Building: Place Portobello Mushroom Cap bottom up then layer lettuce leaf, avocado slices, Tuna Burger, Seasoned Goat Cheese and second Portobello Mushroom Cap


Although this is a hearty single serving recipe, feel free to multiply to create several burgers to share. For maximum umami impact, eat while all cooked ingredients are still warm.
